When I first got started in this business nearly 10 years ago I remember very well that the stun gun with the highest voltage was also the most expensive. Back then if a stun gun had 500,000 volts it might cost you $60 to $70. That was the upper end of the product line even before tasers were invented. Now it is not uncommon to find a stun gun that has two or three million volts for less than $20. And there's not just one, there's usually a good selection at that price.
When tasers first came out, the least expensive model was around $500.00 but that was before the C2 model. When the C-2 was first introduced it was around $400. Pepper sprays and personal alarms have always been inexpensive. Their prices have not really changed in the last 10 years except to decrease. But what has changed with pepper sprays, for example, is that there is a greater variety of products. And the same goes for personal alarms sometimes called panic alarms. There is a much greater selection of products now.

I guess the point is that as time goes on and products become more popular, technological advances and price competition do two things. First, the technological advances improve the productivity and quality of the product. Most products now, for example, come with lifetime warranties-something that was unusual 10 years ago. Second price competition among all the manufacturers and especially distributors makes for less expensive products than there were even five years ago. Price competition is generally very aggressive among distributors.
Pepper spray always has been and probably always will be the most popular self-defense item. Like a lot of self-defense products it started out for use by military and law enforcement officials, but pepper spray has grown into the primary item for self-defense especially for women-the product of choice-if you will. The main reason for that is because it's 90% effective and is generally less expensive than almost any other self-defense product. It is easy to carry, easy-to-use and legal in all states. Some states, though, do have restrictions.
Fox Lab Sprays are used by more law enforcement agencies in the country than any other brand. You can get the same products that law enforcement officers use at very reasonable prices.
The point of all this is that self-defense products are not nearly as expensive as they used to be and factually if you do some shopping, you can get great bargains on all of them.
